I define Value-Based Pricing in comparison and contrast to other pricing paradigms and argue for its superiority in monopolistic competitive markets. I then define the Value-Based Pricing Framework which explores organizational pricing decisions at five different levels. Given these definitions, I measure organizational pricing capability using the Pricing Spineometer methodology.

Attendees will learn:

  1. The meaning of “Value-Based” pricing and its relationship to cost plus and competitive pricing
  2. The five corporate management areas requiring pricing professionals within the Value-Based Pricing Framework
  3. The evaluation of a corporate pricing capability using a Pricing Spineometer

Tim J. Smith, public intellectual on pricing strategy, is the CEO of Wiglaf Pricing and Adjunct Professor of Economics at DePaul University. He holds a BA and BS from SMU and a PhD and MBA from the University of Chicago.
